Many prominent Democrats have expressed their support for Vice President Kamala Harris following President Biden's announcement that he will not be running in the 2024 election.

Former State Senator Jason Carter mentioned that he believes his grandfather, former President Jimmy Carter, would be proud of both Biden and Harris.

Jason Carter, who is the grandson of President Jimmy Carter and a former Georgia state senator, initially felt surprised by President Biden’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race.

However, after the initial shock, Carter felt that it made sense.

He stated, 'Joe Biden has consistently demonstrated throughout his life that he is the kind of person who puts his country above himself, so this decision was not out of character.

'Carter fully supports Biden's decision and endorses Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.

He believes she is the best choice, saying, 'Vice President Harris has the advantage of being part of this ticket and having been part of this team for the past several months and years.

She has run nationally before, was part of the team that defeated Trump last time, and knows how this works.

'The former president’s grandson also noted that many Georgia Democrats have shown strong support for the move.

Regarding what his grandfather, former President Jimmy Carter, might think of the decision, Jason Carter said, 'I think he'd be proud of his friend Joe Biden.

They have known each other for 50 years, and I think this is one of those moments where someone we all respect, Joe Biden, is doing something we all respect.

'While Carter believes President Biden made the right decision, he has no doubt that the president is capable of finishing his term in office.
