In the T20 World Cup 2024 Group C match between Afghanistan and Uganda, Afghanistan emerged victorious by a massive 125 runs.

The match took place on Tuesday at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Afghanistan's victory was highlighted by a brilliant partnership between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, followed by a five-wicket haul from Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Afghanistan batted first and posted a total of 183/5, thanks to a record partnership of 154 runs between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran.

Uganda, in response, struggled to put up a fight and were bowled out for just 58 runs.

Fazalhaq Farooqi was the star bowler for Afghanistan, taking five wickets, while Naveen-ul-Haq and Rashid Khan each took two wickets.

Uganda's team consisted of Simon Ssesazi (wk), Roger Mukasa, Ronak Patel, Riazat Ali Shah, Dinesh Nakrani, Robinson Obuya, Alpesh Ramjani, Brian Masaba (c), Bilal Hassan, Cosmas Kyewuta, and Henry Ssenyondo.

After the match, Rashid Khan, the captain of Afghanistan, expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, emphasizing the importance of mindset and simplicity in their approach.

He praised the openers and the bowlers for their contributions.

Brian Masaba, the skipper of Uganda, acknowledged the nerves his team felt going into their first game and credited Afghanistan for their strong performance.

Fazalhaq Farooqi was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding five-wicket haul.
