Nigeria - Web content about Luke Shaw
All 26 members of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad were present for an open training session in Jena, Germany, on Tuesday afternoon.
**John Stones**, 30, required medical attention after going to ground following a challenge from **Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson** within 90 seconds in Friday night’s 1-0 friendly defeat.
The defender remained on the pitch for the remainder of the first half but looked in visible discomfort and was replaced at half-time.
However, the City defender trained with the rest of the squad to allay fears over his fitness for this weekend’s game in Gelsenkirchen.
**Luke Shaw**, meanwhile, remains England’s most significant injury concern having not played for club or country since February.
The defender has been following an individual training programme in a bid to restore his fitness but was able to take part in passing drills with his England team-mates on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old is England’s only recognised left-back in Germany and his return to action would represent a significant boost to Southgate’s hopes for the rest of the tournament.
Stones is likely to form part of England’s first-choice central defensive pairing this summer alongside **Harry Maguire**, while **Ezri Konsa** and **Fikayo Tomori** are also in the squad, with **Joe Gomez** missing out having been cut from the preliminary squad.
