, it was reported that the fire had grown to 50 hectares.
Four initial attack crews, a 10-person Capital Regional District crew, and three helicopters are responding.
Greater Victoria is now included in a smoky skies bulletin, which includes Sidney, Victoria, Saanich, Langford, and Metchosin.
The B.
C.
government advises that people living in areas with a smoky skies bulletin should stop or reduce their activity level if breathing becomes uncomfortable, stay cool and drink plenty of liquids, keep medications with you if you have asthma or other chronic illnesses, take care of children, and monitor your symptoms and seek help if needed.
Lisa Erven, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says Sooke is expected to receive westerly (blowing from the west to the east) winds of about 40 kilometres per hour starting in the afternoon.
The wind is expected to maintain its strength overnight, then possibly increase to gusting to 50 km/h Wednesday evening.
Erven says there is a slight possibility that the Sooke area receives a small amount of rain Wednesday night, but if it arrives it would not be enough to affect wildfires.
Maja Tait, Sooke’s mayor, tells CHEK News there is an emergency centre set up in the municipal hall to monitor the fire and whether evacuation alerts are needed.
At this time, no evacuation other than the campground is required.
'He told us we have to leave,' Layno told CHEK News on Monday afternoon.
'I tried to pack some stuff that we have and he said ‘you don’t need to pack your stuff’ so we just have to evacuate.
' Layno is travelling from Edmonton with her baby Emma and her husband, so she was able to grab a pack of clothes for the baby and milk but then had to leave.
'We don’t know where to go because we’re from Alberta, so we have just been camping in a few spots,' Layno said.
'Now all of our tents and our bed there, and some stuff, and my clothes and his clothes.
So we’re kind of screwed now, we can’t move along to another site.
'In a statement just before 8 p.

, the District of Sooke said, 'The opportunity to retrieve belongings will be addressed tomorrow.
' Additionally, those evacuated from the campground were advised to find their own alternative accommodation.
