That’s the end of the first half, and it has been a pretty good one for the Sky Blues and their new marquee man, Douglas Costa.
He has an assist (and a secondary assist, if you believe in those) in his first game for the club.
There are also some great signs from goal scorer Anas Ouahim and midfielder Leo Sena, who look to be very tidy additions.
As expected, Sydney FC are all over Eastern SC, the minnows from Hong Kong, who are doing their best but are clearly outmatched.
The Sky Blues continue knocking at the door.
Another cutback by Douglas Costa sets up Joe Lolley, whose shot is deflected out for a corner.
And now they score! That’s two! It’s taken short, Douglas Costa sends in a cross, and it’s headed in by Rhyan Grant, the new captain.
So close, Patryk Klimala! He’s just had a shot saved from point-blank range by Eastern goalkeeper Yapp Hung Fai, latching onto a lovely ball from the left flank.
Not sure who delivered that but it was spot on, and had Sydney inches away from doubling their advantage.
The move started with a perfect through ball from Douglas Costa for Rhyan Grant, who grabs it on the byline, cuts in from the right, and finds Ouahim, who scores from close range.
A deserved lead from Sydney.
And while that’s not going to go down as an assist for Costa, he made that happen.
Wonderful start by him.
Almost something out of nothing by Douglas Costa, who whips it in from the left wing and almost finds Klimala! He’s definitely shown some positive signs already, while Eastern continue to threaten on the break.
They just had a shot on target a few moments ago, easily saved by the goalkeeper Harrison Devenish-Meares.
It was tame as it was, but still probably worthy of letting you know about.
And another chance for Eastern! Joel King gets a defensive header all wrong, Bertomeu latches onto it and tries to chip the goalkeeper.
It’s wide of the target, thankfully for Sydney.
If you are watching this, first of all, good on you.
But second, you may have also noticed something wild.
And no, I’m not talking about the apparent lack of a crowd.
The other side of the ground is shut so everyone is on the camera side.
I’m talking about the fact that Joel King, a natural left-back, is playing at centre-back.
Interesting call from coach Ufuk Talay but one he can probably afford to make given the calibre of the opposition.
They have just signed another centre-back, Aleks Popovic, but he’s only just arrived and is on the bench tonight.
As for the game? Australian teams struggle to break down parked bus in Asia.
Heard that one before, eh? A corner now for Eastern SC as Noah Baffoe Donkor cuts across to Victor Bertomeu as the visitors launch a quick counter-attack.
Bertomeu’s shot is deflected over the bar, so it’ll be a set piece, and easily dealt with by the Sky Blues.
First real flash of brilliance from Douglas Costa, who received the ball on Sydney’s right wing, did a step over and dribbled through two defenders.
His touch/pass was a bit heavy, though, so it came to nothing, that move, but not bad, Douglas, not bad.
Really good.
They’ve taken all the wrappers and stickers off the soft drinks in the media box fridge, so as to not breach any sponsorship agreements, but there’s no game clock within sight.
So I couldn’t tell you what minute of the match it is right now.
But I think we’re about five minutes in and Sydney FC are all over them.
Douglas Costa seems to be moving well.
No clear-cut chances yet, but they’re coming.
